昨天在香港大學的網站內看到醫學院已經被改名為 “李嘉誠醫學院”，大有跟別的學院名稱格格不入的感覺。回想這件事件早前已經鬧了好一陣子，於今回顧，還是覺得不加上個別人事姓名為好。我個人觀點是要以保存學術民主與自由為基本原則。這樣一改，整體觀念是多少也跟這個學術原則有所相悖。
談到學術自由，我總想到馮友蘭為“國立西南聯大”所寫的碑文:
萬物並育而不相害，天道並行而不相悖，小德川流，大德軟化，此天地之所為大。斯雖先民之恒言，實為民主之真諦。聯合大學以其相容並包之精神，轉移社會一時之風氣，內樹學術自由之規模，外來民主堡壘之稱號，違千夫之諾諾，作一士之諤諤。
在香港這個玫瑰園，我們可會欠缺了像這樣的一道諤諤清流？
4月20日 Personal StatementWriting a Personal Statement is not an easy task. In my latest application of a master degree program, the institute has requested candidates to lodge in a Personal Statement which should be written with less than 300 words, this is a general requirement of almost every university. Honestly, if this statment forms a major part of application assessment, I would believe the unsuccessful rate will be amazingly high.
In general, local educated candidates tend to believe in volume of words instead of simplicity of expressions. In the "Element of Style", one of the rules addressed by Professor White Jr., is "Omit Needless Words", this is unversally applicable and almost agreeable to every renowned writer. In fact, this rule is also true in the composition of Chinese articles.
My problem is: I should write a Personal Statement of what? I remember well that years ago when I was applying a MBA progrem with the University of Birmingham, the institute had requested me to submit a "Statement of Interest" together with application. This, perhaps, would make a little difference.

今朝满城车马鸣 两岸银阙朝天擎 海畔两山拥翠城 励治十载蛟龙腾 浩气百年树紫荆 珠还合浦全城庆 喜鹊归家梅花迎
4月9日 吳 哥 遺 址眼前的頹桓訴說了一個逾千年的文明如何破滅。今天這塊土地上的民俗貧窮得讓人惋惜。曾經擁有輝煌的文化，卻因為戰亂而令這個民族的文明蕩然消失。如果強說是樹木把這個失落的文明掩蓋，我情願相信是樹木緊緊地守護著這點點剩餘的寶貴吳哥文化遺產。藹藹春雲，萋萋芳草，樹猶如此，人何以堪？
我後悔在出發前沒有好好去認識這個國家的歷史，又為自己欠缺佛教文化的知識而未能看懂這些石刻背後的典故而憂傷。看見天下之大，更覺得自己渺小無知；幸好科技發達，我還能用照相機把這些世界文化遺產拍攝下來，留待日後細心研究當中的學問。
蒼榆築綠蔭，青草凝露飲， 兩者施不受，繾綣吳哥情。 藹藹白雲訴，萋萋芳草泣， 點點零星散，落落盡荒城。
